You have the option to use an online stored file. For example a spreadsheet from your SharePoint account. (OneDrive is available for private Microsoft users.)
When selecting the file, a corresponding "guest-link" will be generated. This does not mean that your file is publicly available!
Access to the spreadsheet will be granted only to the app you created, and (optionally) to users you have invited to this app.

Your data will be treated confidentially and used only for this purpose. The connection will be encrypted through a https certificate.
- Click on 'A link to on-line file' in step 1 of the creation process.
- Select 'SharePoint Online'.
- The SharePoint website opens in a pop-up window.
- Log into your SharePoint account.
- Select the desired Excel file.
- Click 'select'.
The Open as App Wizard immediately begins analyzing the file structure and will automatically redirect you to the next step of the app creation process.
Please note that some browsers prevent the website to open "pop-ups". Check your browser settings and allow www.openasapp.net to open pop-up windows permanently or only this time. (In some browsers, you can try it with another click on the cloud icon.)
When using files from your cloud, only the initial app creation process takes place in the Open as App Cloud. In this case the source file will be encrypted and stored temporarily for the creation process only.
Future changes to your spreadsheet are communicated to your mobile devices by your cloud directly. This communication is never taking place via the Open as App cloud.
We are currently working on a solution where guest access is not necessary. The authentication will take place on the user's device. The created app can only be opened if the user has already access to the file with his cloud account (e.g. if the file has been shared with the user, or his team on Dropbox Business) AND verified his account on the mobile device.
Please make sure not to log in with your private, but the business OneDrive/SharePoint account.
If you want to use a spreadsheet hosted in your private OneDrive you can select the upload option "OneDrive" and log in with your private account.
